Top 5 Lightweight Strollers
Lightweight baby strollers have come a long way from the basic umbrella stroller. Today's lightweight baby strollers have many of the same features as larger strollers, but the lighter versions are much easier for travel and quick trips to the mall or zoo. Here are the top lightweight strollers - all easy to stash in your trunk without taking up too much space.
1. Maclaren Volo: 9lbs, $120
The ultra-lightweight Maclaren Volo packs a lot of style and convenience into a small package. This stroller comes with a sunshade, rain cover, carry strap and five-point harness; it has a sturdy frame and great steering. With the one-handed fold, it's perfect for travel and loading into your trunk.
2. Valco Baby Latitude: 19lbs, $299
The Valco Latitude lacks nothing you'd need to get around town with baby, and even comes with a rain cover and boot cover that you might have to buy separately with other strollers. You can recline the seat from newborn position all the way to fully upright and a car seat adapter for Graco SnugRides and Britax Companions is also included. The roomy basket and compact fold make this a convenient choice for you, and the durability and 47 lb. weight limit mean you'll get several years of use from this stroller.
3. Tike Tech City X4: 21lbs, $320 (As shown in photo)
While this stroller is a bit heavier than other lightweight models, it is a great everyday stroller that will not disappoint. It is light enough to lug around town, while having all the bells and whistles of a full-size stroller. The City X4 is Tike Tech's new 4 wheeler designed for strolling indoors and out. Stocked with features such as an adjustable handle, large roomy seat and great canopy, this lighter weight stroller can accommodate your baby from birth through preschool years at a mid-range price.Tike Tech also makes a beautiful bassinet that you can purchase as an add-on.
4. Chicco C6: 11lbs, $69
The Chicco C6 is a basic stroller with a much sturdier frame and better steering than many of the less-expensive umbrella strollers. The C6 includes a sunshade, a reclining seat and a 5-point harness, which is nice for preventing forward-slumping if your child falls asleep in the stroller. It folds very small for storage and the carry strap and carry bag make this perfect for travel.
5. Micralite Toro: 19lbs, $525
Though it's on the higher end of the price spectrum, the Micralite Toro offers smooth steering and a tight turning radius that may be worth every penny if you often push a stroller with one hand. The seat on the Toro stroller lays flat for newborns and also sits upright for older babies, plus has several positions in between. A rain cover, foot muff and sun shield are included with the stroller, as is a nap bar.
